Amit Mohta, Vice President - Global Procurement, Commodities, Food Ingredients and Risk Management, Unilever Asia Private Limited

Judge

Amit is responsible for sourcing of Unilever’s Global requirement of all commodities (like oils, cocoa, dairy etc) and food ingredients. On the Risk Management side, he oversees the hedging of commodity exposure. He is a member of Unilever Procurement Leadership Team which oversees the entirety of the procurement of materials and services. Prior to this position, Amit has led the Procurement Operations for South East Asia & Australasia, based out of Jakarta, Indonesia.

Shue Heng Yip, Head, Digital Transformation, Asia and Oceania, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG)

Judge

As Head of Digital Transformation, Yip is responsible for shaping MUFG’s digital network in Asia and Oceania and focusses on the development of innovative digital solutions and sustainable practices to address problems in the trade ecosystem in the region, particularly in the unbanked and under-banked segments of the population.

Yip has spent 20 years in Singapore’s public and private sectors, across financial services, legal services, and info-communication technology. Prior to his current appointment, he was a director leading the sector transformation for fintech, tradetech and legaltech at the Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA), a government agency in Singapore.

Dr. Thomas Wegmann, Head of Product Development Region  APAC, Singapore, Bayer Crop Science

Judge

Thomas leads the Product Development Organisation within Bayer in Asia-Pacific. He is driving the innovation of Bayer’s solution portfolio in APAC which requires sensitivity for smallholder farmers, climatic and agricultural needs in Asia. During his more than 25 year in the industry he gained experience in different  functions including Research and Safety Functions. He made presentations in congresses and participated in discussion rounds promoting innovation hand in hand with sustainability to cope with existing and future challenges in agriculture.  Thomas supports Bayer’s digital and drone initiatives that helps especially smallholder farmers around the globe. ”Shaping the future of farming means to empower farmers with modern tools to make smarter decisions, enabling professional and smallholders field to produce food more efficiently, to increase productivity, Improve lives of families and communities without harming the environment.

Paul Voutier, Manager - Digital, Grow Asia

Paul leads Grow Asia’s digital program. Mobile applications are an exciting tool and have the potential to create multiple opportunities for smallholder farmers, including access to training, credit and market intelligence. Grow Asia is working to develop a marketplace of new and existing mobile applications to empower farmers and other stakeholders in the value chain, including traders, application developers, buyers and governments.

Paul has significant experience building smallholder supply chains in the cocoa, citrus, cassava and rubber industries. Before joining Grow Asia, he worked with agribusinesses including Mondelez International, Olam, Syngenta, Heineken and Ironbark Citrus, addressing buyers’ needs for quality and regular supply and also the needs of farmers for credit, training and attractive pricing.

Melisa Irene is part of East Ventures, an early stage investment fund with a focus on consumer Internet, mobile and SaaS. Over 3 years, she has worked closely with startup founders across the region to provide coordination and support for venture growth and fund raising.

Grahame Dixie, Executive Director, Grow Asia

Grahame Dixie is the Executive Director of Grow Asia, a multi-stakeholder partnership platform that catalyzes action on inclusive agricultural development in South East Asia. Grahame joined the Grow Asia team based in Singapore in December 2016 and will take the helm of this unique regional partnership, which is already generating impact through national-level initiatives in five countries.     

Grahame brings over 35 years of professional experience as a practitioner of agricultural development in over 75 countries, including an early career in the private sector. For the past decade, he served as the World Bank’s lead agribusiness advisor where he was involved in the design and review of the World Bank’s portfolio of projects linking smaller scale farmers to markets and agribusinesses. More recently, Grahame has served as an advisor to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
